Hello! I’m Sugrim Persaud, a proud labourer from the vibrant Pomeroon region of Guyana. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my roots run deep in the rich, fertile lands that our ancestors cultivated. With the mighty Pomeroon River flowing nearby, I find inspiration in the lush greenery and the sweet aroma of fresh fruits that our farmers bring to the market. From sweet golden cassava to the freshest coconut water, my days are filled with the warmth of our local flavors, reminiscent of family gatherings and community feasts.
My work as a labourer is not just a job; it's a way to contribute to our community and uphold the spirit of togetherness that defines us Guyanese. Whether it’s lending a hand at the local market or helping to cultivate the land, I take pride in the labor that nourishes our families and keeps our heritage alive. I often reminisce about the stories shared by elders, like those from Manawarin and the surrounding areas, who remind us of the importance of looking after our beloved homeland and welcoming visitors with open arms.
In today’s world, where many of us are part of the diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with fellow Guyanese abroad. Together, we celebrate our culture, from our traditional dances to the lively sounds of chutney music.
