Hello! I’m Surujpaul Sukhram, a proud farmer from the vibrant community of 01 Sans Souci Wakenaam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this beautiful land where the Demerara River flows and the lush greenery is home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Growing up amidst the sights and sounds of our local markets, I learned the importance of hard work and the joy of sharing the fruits of our labor, especially when it comes to our beloved dishes like pepperpot and metemgee.
Living in Guyana means celebrating our mixed heritage, where every meal is a reminder of our various cultures. There’s nothing quite like enjoying fresh crab from the riverside or gathering with family and friends for a cookout, where laughter and stories fill the air. I often reminisce about the sense of community that binds us, whether here or in the diaspora, where we stay connected through our love for Guyanese cuisine and traditions.
