Greetings! My name is Milton Sutton, and I proudly call Manawarin in the Barima-Waini region of beautiful Guyana my home. As a logger, I spend my days navigating the lush landscapes that surround us, where the sounds of the forest intertwine with the rich tapestry of our culture. I believe it’s vital for the world to see the true conditions of our land and the hardworking people within it. As one of my fellow Guyanese said, “We need more journalists like you to visit Guyana to show the conditions.” This inspires me to share the realities of our life here.
When I’m not working, you can often find me enjoying some of the delightful local cuisine. I love sharing dishes like Dhal Puri with curry, a personal favorite that showcases our vibrant flavors. There’s nothing quite like gathering with friends and family over a hearty meal, reminiscing about our roots and traditions. Whether it’s a simple meal or a celebration, food is at the heart of our community, just as it is across the diaspora.
