Greetings! I’m Marlon Shew, a proud logger from the peaceful village of Manawarin in Barima-Waini. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of Guyana's forests, I've developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and the importance of sustainable logging practices. There's nothing quite like the sound of the rivers—like the Pomeroon or the mighty Essequibo—flowing through the land, reminding me of our rich heritage and the beauty that my country has to offer.
As a Guyanese, I carry the flavors of home wherever I go. From the spicy aroma of pepperpot during Christmas to the sweet taste of a fresh coconut water on a hot day, food is a celebration of our culture. I often reminisce about the bustling markets of Georgetown, where the vibrant cultures of our diverse community come alive. It's true that some areas can be overwhelming, but venture a little beyond, and you'll find breathtaking landscapes and the warmth of our communities waiting to embrace you.
Though I'm currently located in Manawarin, I remain connected to fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, like those in South Africa and beyond. We share stories, dreams, and aspirations for a brighter future for our beloved country.
