Hello! I’m Tandika Chester Wrights-Carew, a proud teacher residing in the heart of Nismes West, located along the picturesque Bank Demerara. My passion lies in nurturing young minds and sharing the rich culture of my beloved Guyana with my students. Whether it’s discussing the significance of the Essequibo River or the stories behind our vibrant festivals like Mashramani, I strive to instill a sense of pride and connection to our roots.
Apart from my teaching, I enjoy indulging in local delicacies such as pepperpot, metemgee, and the ever-popular cook-up rice, often shared with family and friends. I believe that food is a vital part of our cultural identity, and I cherish the moments spent around the table, reminiscent of gatherings back in our homeland. My experiences in the diaspora community have also exposed me to various perspectives, yet one thing remains constant—the warmth of a fellow Guyanese, whether we’re reminiscing about the beauty of the Kaieteur Falls or simply enjoying a good laugh over the right pronunciation of "Dominica."
