Hello! My name is Timal Sookram, and I am proud to call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam home. Living along the Essequibo 4-5 Public Road, I spend my days cultivating the land and nurturing a variety of crops that reflect the rich agricultural heritage of Guyana. From the lush rice fields to the aromatic spices that flavor our beloved cook-up rice, my work connects me deeply to the land and the vibrant culture of my country.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the warmth of my community. The spirit of togetherness is alive in our local markets, where you can find everything from fresh fruits to the sweetest cassava bread. I often reminisce about the lively festivals, where the rhythms of chutney and soca music fill the air, reminding me of the rich diversity that makes our nation unique. The breathtaking views of the Demerara River and the iconic St. George's Cathedral are constant reminders of why I cherish my roots, even as friends and family have ventured abroad.
As a farmer, I take pride in contributing to the sustenance of my fellow Guyanese, whether they are near or far. The diaspora community holds a special place in my heart; I often hear stories from those who have settled in the United States and beyond, fondly recalling their experiences growing up in our beautiful country. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
