Hello! My name is Tracy Ally, a proud Guyanese teacher residing in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, specifically at Coast 133 Nightingale Street. Growing up in a nation known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, I have always been passionate about sharing the beauty of Guyana with others. From the lush rainforests of the Essequibo to the rhythmic sounds of our local music, I aim to instill a sense of pride and appreciation for our unique identity in my students.
As someone deeply rooted in Guyanese culture, I often draw inspiration from our culinary delights, like pepperpot and roti, which remind me of family gatherings and festive occasions. I also cherish the strong connections within the Guyanese diaspora, whether it’s reminiscing about home with fellow expatriates in NYC or hearing comments that celebrate our vibrant community, such as “Guyana IS IN the Caribbean, barb!" This shared bond reinforces my commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among my students.
In my classroom, I strive not only to educate but also to empower young minds to explore their heritage and embrace the diversity that surrounds them. It’s important to me that my students learn the value of respect and appreciation for our land and its people, as well as the importance of making responsible choices in our beautiful but sometimes misunderstood country. After all, we all have a role in shaping the future of Guyana, both at home and abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
