Greetings! My name is Twyon Thomas, and I proudly call River Massarie Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a miner, I work hard to contribute to my community while embracing the vibrant culture that surrounds me. Guyana is a land of rich biodiversity, with lush rainforests and the mighty Essequibo River flowing through our beautiful landscapes. Growing up in Guyana, I have been shaped by the diverse influences of our Caribbean heritage, from the mouthwatering roti and curry to the uniquely Guyanese pepperpot. I cherish the moments shared with friends and family around a big pot of cook-up rice or enjoying the sweet taste of a ripe mango, especially when prepared by my loved ones. The spirit of community resonates deeply within me, and I always find joy in connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether they are here at home or part of our diaspora abroad.
