Hello! My name is Ulrick Hutson, and I am proud to call the beautiful lands of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a miner, I work diligently to contribute to our economy while also cherishing the rich natural resources that our country has to offer. Growing up in Guyana, I've been deeply influenced by the vibrant cultures that coexist here, including our shared love for food, family, and the great outdoors. The food here in Guyana is unlike any other—each meal is a celebration filled with spices and flavors that reflect our diverse heritage. Whether it’s a traditional pepperpot or a hearty serving of cook-up rice, you can always find me enjoying a flavorful dish with family and friends.
Guyana is a land of stunning beauty, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls, which is the longest straight drop waterfall in the world, to the lush landscapes of our interior regions. I often reminisce about the peacefulness of the Pomeroon River and the warm community spirit that defines our culture. I believe that even when we are far from home, especially in places like Little Guyana, the essence of our roots continues to thrive. It’s heartening to see our diaspora contributing to communities abroad while sharing bits of our culture, especially through food and festivals.
As I navigate my life here, I hold dear the stories and experiences that shape who I am. I strive to be a part of the ongoing dialogue about improving our communities, whether it's through advocating for better infrastructure or simply sharing a meal with neighbors. My journey may have led me into the world of mining, but my heart is always tied to the vibrant life and culture of Guyana. I hope to inspire others to explore our beautiful country and embrace the pride we share in our heritage.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
