Hello! My name is William Jack, and I proudly hail from the vibrant area of Upper Pomeroon, specifically the left bank of the Arapiako River. As a dedicated labourer, I find joy in the daily connections I make within my community, where the spirit of camaraderie and hard work is palpable. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the flavorful aromas of cook-up rice to the soothing sounds of the rivers that flow through our land.
Guyana is not just where I live; it's a part of who I am. The stories of our history, such as the struggles and triumphs during the PNC/APNU era, remind us of our resilience as a nation. Despite facing hardships, the strength and unity of our people shine through. I often reminisce about the lively gatherings at the local markets and the warmth of our community events, where we celebrate our heritage with music and dance, sharing laughter and heartfelt connections. Those experiences have shaped my perspective and drive.
As I engage with the diaspora, whether it's through social media or community events, I am constantly reminded of the love we share for our homeland. I resonate with those who have moved abroad but still carry a piece of Guyana in their hearts. Whether it’s someone reminiscing about Lower Pomeroon or those simply saying, “Yeh I'm from there,” it creates a bond that transcends borders.
