Greetings! I’m Andrea Teekaram, a dedicated teacher based in the serene community of La Bagatelle, Leguan, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My passion for education is matched only by my love for our diverse culture and vibrant landscapes. From teaching the next generation to savoring the delights of our local cuisine—whether it’s a plate of spicy pepperpot or a sweet slice of black cake—I believe that every experience enriches our understanding of the world.
Living in Guyana means being part of a rich tapestry of traditions and camaraderie. Whether I’m enjoying the fresh catch at Bartica or celebrating our culture at home with friends and family, I cherish the connections we have, both locally and with the Guyanese diaspora. It warms my heart to hear stories from fellow Guyanese, like those who often visit from Barbados, and to share in the pride we all feel for our homeland, especially when someone mentions the beauty of the Lower Pomeroon River or simply exclaims “Ikrrrrr!” at the thought of home.
As I continue my journey in education, I aim to inspire my students to appreciate our heritage and cultivate their own stories.
