Welcome! My name is Charles Richards, and I proudly call River Waipqua Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a miner, I spend my days working hard to support my family while being surrounded by the lush beauty of our land. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been inspired by the vibrant culture that surrounds us, from the aroma of pepper pot wafting through the air to the joy of celebrating our diverse heritage with family and friends.
In the heart of our community, we gather to share stories and laughter, often reminiscing about the rich traditions that define us. While some may say that Guyana shares similarities with Trinidad and Tobago, I believe that our unique dishes, like the irresistible egg ball and our warm, welcoming spirit, set us apart. My dream is to help develop our beloved homeland further, ensuring that future generations can experience the same beauty and camaraderie that I cherish.
Though I may spend a lot of time in the mines, my heart is always drawn to the sense of belonging that comes from our Guyanese roots. I aspire to see my family thrive and hope to reconnect with those in the diaspora, as we unite in our love for this incredible land. Whether it’s fishing in the Pomeroon River or enjoying a family gathering, I look forward to embracing every moment with the people I love.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
