Greetings! My name is Colin Anderson, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home. As a security guard, my days are spent ensuring the safety and well-being of my community here in Richmond Housing. Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture, from the rich flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the breathtaking views of the Essequibo River. There's nothing quite like savoring a plate of golden fried fish after a long day, or enjoying the lively atmosphere at the annual Mashramani celebrations.
Having lived in this beautiful region all my life, I cherish the warmth of our people and the diverse melting pot of cultures that define us. Whether it's navigating the narrow roads where it can feel like two cars just can’t fit, or sharing stories with friends about life in Guyana compared to places like Canada or the USA, I find joy in the little things that bring us together. I often reflect on the connections we share, especially with those in the diaspora who fondly remember the sights and sounds of their homeland.
As I continue my journey, I aim to represent the spirit of Guyana in everything I do. From my daily work to local community events, I am always eager to showcase our unique heritage and share the stories that make us who we are.
