Hello! I’m David Williams, a logger from the serene Pom River Pickers Gill in the Upper Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As someone deeply connected to the land, I understand the challenges our nation faces, especially in light of recent developments like the discovery of oil. While there is hope for economic change, I share the concerns of my fellow Guyanese about the current state of our infrastructure and the need for genuine progress. I often reminisce about the beauty of our rivers—be it River Mango Landing or the peaceful Pomeroon River—and wish for a future where our people can thrive together, free from the burdens of corruption and division.
Living in a community where resilience and connection to our roots are paramount, I find inspiration in the strength of my people. I engage in conversations with the diaspora, who, like me, carry a piece of Guyana wherever they go. We dream of a brighter future for our homeland, where every child can find opportunities and every neighbor shares a smile. We are united by our love for Guyana, and together, I believe we can foster the change we yearn for.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
