Greetings! My name is Edmond Hendricks, and I proudly call Capoey Lake Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my life as a farmer is deeply intertwined with the rich, fertile lands that Guyana has to offer. Much like the vibrant neighborhoods of Uptown Nola, our community thrives on a blend of cultures, where the rhythms of life echo in the laughter of neighbors and the aroma of our local dishes, from pepperpot to cook-up rice.
As a Guyanese, I take pride in our unique heritage that connects us more closely with the West Indies than South America. From the lush banks of the Essequibo River to the lively celebrations of Mashramani, every moment is a testament to our spirited resilience and warm hospitality. I often reminisce about my roots and family stories shared over a plate of fried plantains or while sipping mauby, bridging the past with the present.
