About Esther Persaud

Greetings! I am Esther Persaud, a passionate teacher based in the vibrant community of 2 Area AA Estate Road in Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of the Pomeroon River and the warm smiles of my neighbors in St. Monica, I have always cherished the rich culture and stories that shape our beautiful land. From the aromatic flavors of pepperpot on special occasions to the lively sounds of cricket games in the streets, my experiences have instilled in me a deep appreciation for the essence of being Guyanese.

As an educator, I believe that understanding is key to learning. I often remind my students, much like the insightful words of a friend who said, "It's one thing to read, but another to understand what you read." It's this philosophy that drives me to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to explore their potential. I also take pride in sharing the unique history of our nation, from the ancient Indigenous roots to the diverse cultural influences that make Guyana a truly special place in the Caribbean.

Connecting with the diaspora is important to me, as it's a reminder of our shared heritage. I often hear from friends that they miss home, whether it’s the serenity of the Upper Pom River or the vibrant festivities during Mashramani. I believe that our experiences, both at home and abroad, contribute to a stronger sense of community, and I strive to foster that connection in my teaching and interactions.
