Greetings! I’m Fazal Bacchus, a proud labourer from the serene Pomeroon region in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant country, where the lush greenery meets the rich waters of the Pom River. Growing up here, I learned to appreciate the beauty of our natural landscapes, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to our rustic villages that echo the warmth of our community. Guyana holds a special place in my heart, not just for its breathtaking scenery but for its diverse culture, where every flavor, from pepperpot to roti, tells a story of our shared heritage.
While some may argue about where we fit geographically, I embrace our unique identity as a land nestled in South America, infused with Caribbean spirit. Our culture is a beautiful blend, showcased in our festivals and the vibrant colors of our markets. I often reminisce about the lively conversations that fill the air, especially during Mashramani, where the music and dance create an atmosphere of togetherness that resonates with all Guyanese, near and far. This connection is what keeps our diaspora strong, as we carry a piece of Guyana wherever life takes us.
