Hello! I’m Gabriel Hutson, a proud Guyanese miner from the vibrant community of Coast 43 Check Dam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I've come to appreciate the rich cultural heritage that defines our nation. From the call of the cicadas in the rainforest to the sweet aroma of pepper pot simmering on a Sunday morning, every aspect of my life is steeped in the traditions of our people. In my daily life, I speak Creole and English, reflecting the lively mix of cultures that exist here. Whether I'm chatting with neighbors or sharing stories with friends, there's a warmth and camaraderie that you simply can’t find anywhere else. If you’ve ever visited our capital, Georgetown, you’ll know the churches here are more than just places of worship; they are integral to our community life! It's the connections we forge, both locally and with our diaspora, that hold our culture together.
When I'm not working hard in the mines, I enjoy indulging in our delicious, spice-filled Guyanese cuisine.
