Greetings! My name is Delon Henry, and I proudly call Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana my home. As a technician, I enjoy solving problems and ensuring that everything runs smoothly in my community. Growing up amidst the natural beauty of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot on special occasions or eating a simple meal of rice and beans with some fried fish, I believe Caribbean food is truly the heart and soul of our gatherings. Like many in the diaspora, I often hear comments about my home, and while some may not see the beauty we hold, I know firsthand that Guyana is a treasure waiting to be explored.
As a second-generation Guyanese-American, I also feel a strong connection to the global Guyanese community. We share stories, laughter, and the occasional roast about mispronounced words and misconceptions about our homeland. I’m proud to represent my culture, whether in Baramita or abroad, and eager to share the uniqueness of our heritage with anyone willing to listen. After all, there’s no place like home!
Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
