Hello! I’m Ileen Francis, a proud resident of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our diverse culture and rich heritage. Whether it’s the sweet aroma of freshly made dal puri or the crispy delight of a flaky roti, the flavors of my homeland hold a special place in my heart. While some might prefer one over the other, I personally enjoy both dishes, as they bring back memories of family gatherings and celebrations.
As someone who has experienced the vibrancy of our community, I often reflect on the challenges we face as a nation blessed with natural resources like gold, bauxite, and oil. It's a bittersweet reality when you see how wealth isn't always translated into the development of our people and infrastructure. Despite this, I remain hopeful and believe in the resilience of the Guyanese spirit.
