Hello! My name is Jemol Modeste, and I’m proud to call Pomeron, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. As a labourer, I understand the importance of hard work and community, values that are deeply rooted in our vibrant culture. Guyana is a melting pot of traditions, and whether I’m enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot or sharing stories with friends at the local market, I cherish the diversity that makes our nation unique.
Growing up in Pomeron, I’ve been fortunate to experience the warmth of our multiethnic society, where we celebrate every festival with enthusiasm—from Mashramani to Diwali. I often find myself reminiscing about days spent by the Pomeroon River, where the laughter and joy of family gatherings fill the air, and the aroma of freshly cooked dishes wafts through the breeze. Our rich cuisine, bursting with flavors and spices, is something I hold dear, and I believe there's no shame in licking the plate clean to savor every last bite!
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I stay connected to my roots and celebrate our culture wherever I go. The sense of belonging and community we share is something truly special.
