Hello! I’m Junior Thompson, a proud stevedore from the lush region of Pomeroon in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of my homeland, I've developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, from the flavorful pepperpot to the sweet treats like coconut bake. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal of fried fish and rice with family and friends while listening to the sounds of calypso and soca music that echo through our communities.
My work as a stevedore allows me to connect with the bustling energy of our ports, where the hustle and bustle of trade reflects the resilience and spirit of our people. Whether it's loading cargo or engaging with fellow workers, I take pride in contributing to the growth of Guyana’s economy, especially during this exciting time as we witness a transformation driven by the emerging oil and gas sector. The camaraderie among us workers is a testament to our shared experiences and aspirations.
