Greetings! I am Kawana Roberts, a dedicated teacher based on the Essequibo Coast at Sand Pit Road in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My passion for education is fueled by a desire to uplift my community and inspire the next generation. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of our nation, I have a deep appreciation for our local traditions, from the spicy flavors of pepperpot to the sweet indulgence of black cake during celebrations. I believe that education is a vital tool to empower our youth and help them realize their potential, especially in a country with such a rich history and a complex journey towards progress.
As someone who has witnessed the effects of the past in our beloved Guyana, I aim to instill in my students a sense of pride and resilience. Our nation's history, marked by significant challenges, including the PNC-APNU era, serves as a reminder of the strength we hold as a community. I often incorporate lessons about our heritage and the importance of unity, drawing connections to our cultural roots and the vibrant life along the Pomeroon River. I want my students to understand that they are part of a larger story, one that extends beyond our borders and connects us to the Guyanese diaspora around the world.
When Iām not in the classroom, you might find me enjoying the lush landscapes or participating in local festivities, where community bonds flourish. Whether it's a gathering over a plate of cook-up rice or sharing laughter with friends, I cherish these moments that remind us of our shared identity. I look forward to continuing my journey in education, nurturing minds, and fostering a love for learning that resonates throughout our community and beyond.
