Hello! I’m Kemuel James, a proud Maracman from the beautiful River Boradaro Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land where the Pomeroon River flows, and the lush greenery brings a sense of peace and community. Growing up surrounded by the sounds of the river and the rhythms of our rich culture, I’ve developed a profound appreciation for the traditions and flavors that define our Guyanese identity.
As a Maracman, I’ve dedicated my life to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of our people. Whether it’s through the irresistible taste of a warm, homemade pepperpot or the joyous gatherings during Mashramani, my mission is to ensure that our customs continue to thrive. I love exploring our local markets, like the bustling Stabroek Market, where the scent of fresh fruits and spices fills the air, connecting us to our roots and to each other, even from afar.
Living in the diaspora, I cherish the connections I make with fellow Guyanese, both locally and abroad. Our shared experiences, whether it’s reminiscing about the beauty of Massarie Island or the challenges of land prices back home, remind me of the strength of our community.
