Welcome! I’m Lillette Thakurdin, a dedicated teacher living in the serene Upper Pomeroon River Grant, nestled in the lush Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My love for education is deeply intertwined with my passion for nurturing young minds, inspiring them to explore the world around them. Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the vibrant culture and rich history unique to our land. From the bustling markets of Georgetown to the tranquil shores of the Pomeroon, I strive to share the beauty of our diverse heritage with my students.
The flavors of Guyanese cuisine, like the fragrant pepperpot and the sweet delights of coconut bread, are a significant part of my life. I often incorporate local dishes into my classroom discussions, connecting my students to their roots and encouraging them to appreciate our culinary traditions. I believe that learning goes beyond textbooks; it’s about celebrating our culture and fostering a sense of pride in who we are as Guyanese, whether we’re living here or abroad.
