Hello! My name is Matthew Joseph, and I proudly call River Mora Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a farmer, I’m deeply rooted in the vibrant, lush landscapes that make up our beautiful country. The Pomeroon River flows beside me, providing not just nourishment for my crops but also a connection to the rich heritage of our communities. From the sweet sound of the jab jab to the aroma of fresh cook-up rice and fish, every day is a celebration of Guyanese culture.
I cherish the simple joys of life here—whether it’s sharing stories with neighbors over a plate of pepperpot or fishing along the banks of the river. My love for our land is matched only by my passion for connecting with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. I often hear comments from our diaspora community, reminding me of the unique quirks that make us who we are, like our colorful dialect and the way we embrace each other with warmth, even when playfully teasing about our pronunciations!
As I continue to work the land and cultivate strong ties within my community, I look forward to sharing the essence of Guyana with you.
