Hello! I’m Musab Yusuf, a passionate teacher hailing from the vibrant community of Tenez Ferme Canal No. in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Demerara, I developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or sharing stories of the iconic River Urasara Creek with my students. My background reflects the beautiful blend of influences that make Guyana unique, from our Indigenous roots to our diverse Indo-Guyanese traditions.
As an educator, I strive to inspire the next generation by fostering a love for learning that connects them with our local environment. I often take my classes on excursions to places like River School Island in Akawini, where the beauty of nature meets the importance of preservation. It’s rewarding to see my students light up when they discover the wonders of our natural world, just as I did growing up. My hope is to instill in them the same sense of pride and responsibility towards our land and culture.
