Greetings! My name is Nirmala Barclay, and I proudly call East Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled along the scenic Pomeroon River, this vibrant community is a melting pot of cultures and traditions that reflect the rich heritage of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and the sounds of nature, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, especially the mouth-watering pepperpot and the ever-popular cook-up rice. There’s nothing quite like a Sunday afternoon spent with family, sharing stories over a plate of freshly prepared roti and curry.
As a resident of this beautiful land, I am passionate about promoting the incredible potential of our country. Guyana is blessed with abundant natural resources—timber, bauxite, gold, and our new-found oil wealth—which, if managed wisely, can propel our development forward. It’s disheartening to see so much untapped potential, but I remain hopeful for the future of our people and our land.
