Hello! I’m Poorandat Dallu, a proud labourer from the vibrant Essequibo region, specifically from Vergenoegen East in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rich waterways of Essequibo, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local culture and community. Whether it’s sharing stories about the iconic blood sausage and fried shark at local celebrations or enjoying the sweet, rich flavors of red cake, there’s nothing quite like the culinary delights our land offers.
Having spent years working with my hands, I embody the spirit of resilience that many Guyanese carry, whether at home or abroad. There’s a strong connection among the half a million Guyanese living overseas, and we often reminisce about the simple pleasures of life back home, from fishing in the Pomeroon River to enjoying a cold rum on the porch. It’s these memories that keep us united, no matter where we are in the world.
When I’m not working, I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese and sharing experiences that reflect our unique identity. I believe that it’s important to celebrate our roots, whether it’s through our delicious food, our beautiful rivers, or the stories that make us who we are. Together, we build a community that stands strong, embracing our past while looking towards the future.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
