About RAJWANTIE BEHARRY

About Rajwantie Beharry

Greetings! I am Rajwantie Beharry, a dedicated teacher residing in the heart of the Essequibo Coast, specifically at 92 Public Road Aurora, Pomeroon-Supenaam. With a passion for education and community engagement, I strive to inspire my students to embrace their cultural heritage while achieving academic excellence. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant rhythms of our local culture, from the sweet sounds of folk music to the delicious aroma of cook-up rice and pepperpot wafting through the air, I cherish the strong sense of identity we share as Guyanese.

Living in Guyana, I often reflect on the beauty of our diverse landscape—from the lush rainforests to the mighty Essequibo River. I believe that the stories and experiences of our people are essential in shaping our future generations. In my classroom, I incorporate elements of our rich history and traditions, ensuring that students understand their roots, be it from Pom. River Grant or any corner of our beloved nation. After all, I don’t just teach; I share the essence of being Guyanese, emphasizing that we are not merely Caribbean but proudly South American.

As a member of the diaspora community, I remain connected to fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad. Whether I'm reminiscing about the flavors of our local dishes or exchanging stories with those who have ventured far from our shores, I carry the warmth of our culture with me. In my work, I embrace the mantra: “Man like we wa style we,” celebrating our unique identity and encouraging students to take pride in who they are as Guyanese.
