Hello! I’m Renisa Lawrie, a proud resident of Coast Public Road Plantation in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My heart is deeply rooted in the vibrant culture of my homeland, where the sounds of the river and the aroma of freshly cooked cook-up rice fill the air. Growing up here has instilled in me a profound appreciation for our rich heritage, from the bustling markets of Georgetown to the serene beauty of Kaieteur Falls, which I fondly refer to as “Kai-chore.”
As a Guyanese, I cherish our communal spirit and the connection we share with the diaspora. I often find myself reminiscing about the joyful gatherings over pepperpot and cassava pone, where stories of our ancestors and aspirations for the future come alive. The resilience and warmth of our people inspire me daily, whether it’s through the laughter of friends on social media or hearing about Guyanese achievements from abroad. Like many others, I feel a deep sense of pride when I see our contributions recognized internationally, from our “Black Gold” to the spirited personalities like Danny, who put Guyana on the map.
