Growing up in Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our local cuisine—nothing beats a warm bowl of callaloo, prepared just as my mother did, and definitely not spinach! Festivities like Christmas are particularly special, where we celebrate with traditional dishes like pepperpot and celebrate the unity of our diverse cultures. For those of us who have ventured abroad, the longing for familiar flavors is real, whether it's searching for cassareep in the diaspora or sharing a laugh about the struggles of recreating recipes from home.
