About SHARON LAM

About Sharon Lam

Hello! My name is Sharon Lam, and I’m proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. As a vendor, I share my love for Guyanese culture through the delicious dishes I prepare and sell, like our famous cook-up rice and black pudding. If you’ve never tasted baked bread alongside pepper pot, then you’re missing out on a true Guyanese experience! I believe in bringing a piece of home to everyone, especially to our diaspora. After all, food is a universal language that connects us all.

Living in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I find inspiration in the lush landscapes and rich traditions that surround me. Whether it’s the serene beauty of our rivers or the bustling markets where stories are exchanged, I cherish the connections we build in our community. The warmth of our people and the rich history of our region, from the hilly sand and clay to the interior savannahs, shape who I am. I often reminisce about the days when families would gather for festivities, sharing laughter and memories over hearty meals.

As a proud Guyanese, I celebrate our Caribbean identity and the resilience of our people. It's essential to highlight our roots and showcase the unique flavors of our culture, especially to those who may not fully understand what it means to be Guyanese. From the captivating stories of our rivers to the dishes that fill our tables, I strive to share the essence of our beautiful country with everyone I meet. Join me in celebrating the heart of Guyana!
