About SHERRY ANN RAMKISSOON

About Sherry Ramkissoon

Hello! My name is Sherry Ramkissoon, and I proudly call the beautiful Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the banks of the Pomeroon River, Hibernia is rich in vibrant culture, lush landscapes, and a strong sense of community. Growing up here, I’ve been surrounded by the delightful aromas of traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which are staples of our rich culinary heritage. I believe that sharing our food is a way to share love and connection, and I look forward to welcoming visitors with a plate of our local delicacies.

As a resident of Guyana, I cherish the stories of our ancestors who paved the way for our future. Many from the diaspora, like my friends and neighbors, have roots in this land, and I often hear tales of their families who left during the Windrush era. It's heartwarming to connect with those returning to explore their heritage, as I know how much pride they take in learning about the landscapes and cultures that shaped their families. Our history is rich, and I encourage everyone to visit iconic sites like the Kaieteur Falls or the bustling streets of Georgetown, where the spirit of our people truly shines.

I am passionate about highlighting the beauty and potential of Guyana, while also advocating for sustainable tourism that respects our environment and community. As we welcome travelers, it’s essential that we educate ourselves about their expectations and ensure that we are ready to share our culture authentically. I invite you to join me in embracing the warmth of Guyanese hospitality and the deep connections that bind us all, whether here or abroad.
