Hello! My name is Ted Walcott, and I’m proud to call the River Paripi Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a miner, I work hard to support my community, but it’s the rich culture and vibrant traditions of Guyana that truly inspire me every day. From the sweet aroma of pepperpot wafting through the air during holidays to the mesmerizing rhythms of our local dances, there’s no place quite like home. Our unique blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences creates a culinary and cultural experience that I cherish deeply.
Growing up near the Lower Pom River, I’ve witnessed the beauty of our natural surroundings and the warmth of our people. I take pride in promoting tourism for Guyana, and I resonate with voices in the diaspora who celebrate our homeland’s progress, like the recent upgrades at the airport. I believe that sharing our stories and experiences can help bridge the gap between our communities abroad and back home, fostering a sense of unity and pride among all Guyanese.
In my spare time, you’ll find me enjoying the local scenery or connecting with friends, whether they be near or far. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
