Growing up in the Pomeroon region, I've been lucky to enjoy our local cuisine, from the delicious pepperpot to the ever-popular cook-up rice, which brings everyone together during family gatherings. The rhythm of life here is vibrant, filled with laughter, storytelling, and the occasional cricket match by the river. It’s these experiences that bind us and create a sense of belonging, whether we’re gathering by the mango creek or sharing tales about the St. Lucian Mission.
Though I may not have the means to travel widely, my heart remains connected to the Guyanese diaspora. I cherish the memories of my homeland and the tales shared by friends and family abroad, reminding me of the resilience and spirit of our people.
