Hello! I’m Donella Britton, a dedicated teacher based in beautiful Pomeroon, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My passion for education is deeply rooted in the vibrant cultures and traditions of our nation. Whether I’m sharing the tales of our diverse communities or introducing students to the wonders of Guyana’s natural beauty, I strive to inspire a love for learning that reflects our unique heritage.
Growing up in Pomeroon, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from the hearty pepperpot to the sweet treats like kuli-kuli and coconut drops. The warmth of my community reminds me daily of the importance of connection, not just within our borders but also with the Guyanese diaspora. It’s a joy to hear from friends abroad about their adventures and to see our culture celebrated on global platforms, even as we keep our roots firmly planted in the rich soil of this land.
When I’m not in the classroom, you might catch me enjoying the great outdoors—maybe taking a trip to the stunning waterfalls or hanging out by the Pomeroon River. I believe that life is all about balance, and I try to share that sentiment with my students. Together, we explore not only the academic subjects but also the beauty of our surroundings, fostering a sense of pride and belonging that I hope they carry with them wherever they go.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
