Hello! I'm RondeLl Calvan, a dedicated teacher based in the beautiful Pomeroon region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of the Pomeroon-Supenaam area, I've always felt a deep connection to my roots, where the Essequibo River flows and local markets bustle with the vibrant colors of fresh fruits like mangoes and cashews. My passion for education is fueled by my desire to inspire the next generation, sharing knowledge and nurturing curiosity, much like how my beloved Caribbean culture has nurtured me.
In my classroom, I strive to incorporate elements of our rich heritage, from the rhythms of calypso and reggae that echo through our communities to the culinary delights of pepper pot and roti that remind us of our diverse ancestry. Whether discussing the importance of our land, like the Baracaro Island, or the complex history of our borders, I aim to create a learning environment that reflects the unique perspectives of Guyana. I believe that understanding our history and geography is vital in shaping our identity, especially for those of us in the diaspora who cherish our homeland while navigating life abroad.
As a proud educator, I’m committed to connecting with my students and the community, fostering a sense of belonging and pride in being Guyanese.
