Hello! I’m Monica Daniels, a dedicated teacher residing in Bank Essequibo, specifically in Phase 2 of the New Housing area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I have always been deeply connected to the rich traditions and flavors of our land. From savoring the deliciousness of pepperpot and metemgee to celebrating our diverse festivals like Mashramani, my roots inspire my teaching and interactions with students.
As an educator, I strive to ignite curiosity and a love for learning in my students, imparting the values and customs that make our community unique. Whether it's sharing stories about the historic St. Monica Upper Pomeroon River or discussing the significance of our natural beauty, such as the serene Essequibo River and the lush rainforests, I aim to foster a sense of pride and belonging in the next generation. I believe in the importance of connecting our local experiences to the broader diaspora, reminding my students that our culture transcends borders.
In my spare time, I enjoy engaging with the diaspora community, sharing stories and insights about our beloved Guyana. I often reflect on the comments from those abroad—like the playful suggestion to "Emulate Dubai" or the heartfelt greetings from fellow Guyanese and Surinamese. These connections remind us that no matter where we are, our essence remains rooted in the warmth of our people and the beauty of our homeland.
