Hello! My name is Elron Smith, and I'm proud to call Karawab in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a labourer, I dedicate myself to the hard work that nourishes our vibrant community. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, I have a deep appreciation for our natural beauty and the rich cultural traditions that make Guyana so unique.
My heart is firmly rooted in the local culture, from enjoying a delicious plate of pepperpot during festive occasions to sharing stories with friends about our beloved landmarks like the historic St. George's Cathedral. I cherish the memories made during food crawls through Little Guyana, where each dish brings back nostalgic moments spent with family, much like my childhood visits to Singhs with my grandma. It's these memories that remind me of the strong connections we have, both here and within the diaspora.
As I navigate life and work, I carry the spirit of our people with me, celebrating the diverse sounds of Guyanese music, especially soca, which always brings a smile to my face. Whether it's a sunny day in Karawab or a gathering with friends, I am always eager to share a piece of my culture and connect with others who share my love for this beautiful land we call home.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
