Greetings! I’m Gwendoline Calistro, a proud farmer residing in the beautiful Mission village of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep connection to the land and its bountiful produce. Every day, I nurture my crops with the same care and attention my ancestors passed down, knowing that each harvest contributes to our community's sustenance and cultural richness.
In addition to my farming, I cherish our local dishes that evoke the true essence of Guyanese life. Whether it's the comforting taste of braised beef with rice or the vibrant flavors of our pepperpot, food is a celebration of our heritage. I also enjoy sharing stories of my experiences with friends, both near and far, often reminiscing about the simple joys of life back home—like the sounds of the Pomeroon River and the vibrant celebrations at Karawab.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a strong connection to my roots, whether I’m engaging with fellow Guyanese in the United States or reminiscing about River Two Friends Settlement. Though I may reside far from home, I carry the spirit of Guyana with me, always eager to share its beauty and richness with others.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
