Hello! My name is Harry Sooklall, and I proudly call Pomeroon my home. As a dedicated labourer, I thrive in my community, where hard work and camaraderie are part of our daily lives. Growing up in Pomeroon, I’ve always been surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that Guyana is known for. Whether it’s spending time by the Pomeroon River or sharing a cup of sweet Mainstay Lake water with friends, these experiences have molded my identity and deepen my love for my homeland.
I cherish our local flavors, from the spicy curries to the mouthwatering pepperpot, and I always look forward to family gatherings where we indulge in these traditional dishes. My roots run deep in this land, and every time I share stories about my life here, I make sure to sprinkle in the lingo and expressions that capture our unique Guyanese essence. I often reminisce about the stories from River Arizona Settlement and Shepeira Southern, places that hold a special place in my heart and help us maintain our connections to home, even when miles away.
The strength of our diaspora community is something I hold dear, as it reminds me that no matter where we are in the world, we are all bound by our shared experiences and culture.
