About WAYNE MICHEAL JOHN

About Wayne John

Hello! My name is Wayne John, a proud fisherman from the beautiful island of Barima-Waini, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rich biodiversity of my homeland, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rivers and seas that provide not just for my family, but for my community as well. Fishing isn’t just a livelihood for me; it’s a way to connect with my culture and share the bounties of our waters with others. Whether it’s catching fresh fish for a family gathering or sharing stories of the Lower Pom River, being a fisherman reminds me daily of the importance of our natural resources.

In my spare time, you can find me enjoying traditional Guyanese dishes, especially the famous pepperpot, which I believe is best made with beef, not labba! And of course, there’s nothing like a warm roti to soak up the curry. I often reminisce about local markets bustling with life, where the aroma of spices fills the air and community bonds are strengthened over shared meals. For anyone visiting, I always say, "You was supposed to eat the roti with curry!" It’s a simple pleasure that captures the essence of our culinary heritage.

As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with fellow Guyanese around the world. Whether we discuss the stunning Kaieteur Falls or the need for Georgetown to develop better transportation for tourists, I feel a shared responsibility to uplift our country. For those who may not know much about Guyana, I invite you to explore our vibrant culture and natural beauty—if you have nothing good to say about GUYANA, zip it! Let's celebrate our roots together.
