Welcome to my little corner of the world! My name is Nishan Kumar, and I’m proud to call Anna Regina in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a fisherman, my days are spent on the tranquil waters of the Pomeroon River, surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant life that makes Guyana so special. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of casting a net and the satisfaction of a good catch, whether it’s for my family’s dinner or to share with the community.
Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that thrives in Guyana. From the delicious flavors of our local cuisine—like pepperpot and cook-up rice—to the vibrant celebrations of our diverse festivals, every aspect of our culture is something to cherish. I often reminisce about childhood days spent at the Yaramai area in St. Monica, where the spirit of togetherness and joy truly comes alive during holidays and family gatherings.
As the world grows smaller and the Guyanese diaspora stretches far and wide, I feel a strong connection to all my fellow countrymen, wherever they may be.
