Greetings! I’m Ramroop Mahase, a dedicated teacher based in the beautiful Pomeroon region of Guyana, specifically in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My passion for education is deeply rooted in my upbringing, surrounded by the lush landscapes, vibrant cultures, and diverse communities of this remarkable country. Growing up, I spent countless hours enjoying our local delicacies, from the savory pepperpot to the iconic cook-up rice, and I believe these flavors truly reflect our rich Guyanese heritage.
In my classroom, I strive to foster a sense of pride in our students about their backgrounds while also encouraging them to explore and appreciate the differences that make us unique. Whether we’re discussing the challenges of land ownership, like many of our ancestors faced, or the significance of our local landmarks such as the Lower Pomeroon River, I aim to connect their education with the heart of our community. The fight for our rights and recognition is something I carry with me, knowing it resonates with many in our diaspora as well.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad. From sharing stories of our beloved St. Chad's Mission to discussing the nuances between Guyana and neighboring countries like Suriname, these conversations enrich our understanding of our roots. My goal is to inspire future generations to embrace their identity and carry on our traditions while boldly stepping into the future.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
