Hello! My name is Rannie France, and I’m proud to call Karawab in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a Maracman, I embrace the rich traditions and cultural heritage that define our vibrant community. Growing up in this lush and scenic landscape, I've always been surrounded by the sounds of the river and the aroma of local delicacies—from the flavorful pepperpot to the sweet and comforting cassava pone. These culinary experiences not only fill the belly but also nourish the spirit, connecting us to our roots and to each other.
Being a part of the Caribbean, I understand the significance of our history and the diversity that comes with it. Guyana, once a British colony, stands as a bridge between South America and the Caribbean, and I proudly identify with the unique blend of cultures that make us who we are. Whether it’s a lively market day at Parika or a gathering for a festival in the heart of our villages, we celebrate our heritage and the connections we share with our diaspora.
