Hello! My name is Ryonlee Edwards, and I'm proud to call Karawab in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a logger, I spend my days surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant wildlife that define our unique landscape. Here in Guyana, we cherish our natural resources, and I feel privileged to contribute to sustainable practices that respect our environment while supporting our communities.
Growing up in this beautiful country, I've developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage. From the mouthwatering dishes that grace our tables, like pepperpot and metemgee, to the lively gatherings that bring us together, food is at the heart of our traditions. I often reminisce about sharing a plate of fresh fish with family and friends, accompanied by a refreshing glass of local acai juice—it's these small moments that keep our culture alive, even in the diaspora. And yes, I always make sure the food is served fresh—cold food can lead to belly troubles, as many of us know all too well!
As a proud Guyanese, I also stay connected to our vibrant diaspora community. Whether it’s sharing stories or exchanging recipes with fellow Guyanese around the world, that bond is a source of strength and pride.
