Welcome! My name is Bibi S Barakat, and I am a passionate teacher residing in the beautiful Pomeroon region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of the Pomeroon River, I have always been inspired by the rich cultural heritage that defines our nation. Whether it's sharing a plate of pepperpot or enjoying the sweetness of ripe pomeracs, I believe that food is an integral part of our identity as Guyanese. Our culinary traditions, infused with influences from our diverse communities, create a unique flavor that is cherished not just here, but also by our diaspora across the Caribbean, Canada, and the USA.
As an educator, I strive to instill a sense of pride in our students, reminding them of the beauty of our ten regions—from the bustling streets of Georgetown to the serene banks of the Essequibo River. I often share stories of the Kairimap Creek and the Lower Pomeroon, illustrating the importance of our natural environment and the need to preserve it for future generations. I hope to foster a love for learning that intertwines with our cultural heritage and instills respect for our country's history and its potential.
