Hello! I’m Esther Raymond, a dedicated teacher from the vibrant Pomeroon region of Guyana. My passion for education is fueled by my love for my community, where I strive to inspire the next generation. Growing up in the lush landscapes of Pomeroon, I’ve been profoundly influenced by our rich culture, from the rhythmic beats of our folk music to the mouthwatering aromas of the best curry in the Caribbean. Whether it’s sharing a plate of spicy pepperpot or indulging in delicious roti, I find joy in the flavors that connect us all.
Living near the beautiful Pomeroon River, I often take my students on educational trips to explore our natural wonders, like the breathtaking scenery at River Myrie Island and the serene landscapes at Kabakaburi. These experiences help cultivate a sense of pride in our heritage and the rich biodiversity we are fortunate to enjoy. I also welcome opportunities to connect with the Guyanese diaspora, sharing stories and learning from those who’ve ventured beyond our borders. It’s wonderful to hear about the experiences of others, like my friends in the UK who fondly remember the unique sounds of our Patwa accent.
As I continue my journey in teaching, I remain committed to nurturing a love for learning and cultural appreciation in my students.
