Greetings! I’m Latchminni Singh-Mahase, a passionate teacher hailing from the beautiful Pomeroon region in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, I have always been inspired by the vibrant culture and rich traditions that define our identity as Guyanese. Whether it’s sharing a hearty plate of pepperpot or enjoying a sweet cassava pone, my love for our local cuisine runs deep, reminding me of the warmth of family gatherings and community feasts.

I often draw connections between our rich history and the experiences of our diaspora, emphasizing that there is no Guyana without the influences of our diverse backgrounds, including our Indian and African roots. Outside the classroom, you can find me enjoying the serene views along the Pomeroon River, reminiscing about my childhood adventures in places like Kabakaburi Mission and Asakabora Island. I cherish the connections I’ve made with the Guyanese diaspora, from those in the bustling streets of Georgetown to my friends who now call places like Hackney home. Together, we carry the spirit of Guyana wherever we go, celebrating our heritage and fostering a sense of belonging.
